In the article, "An Ancient Tsunami That Ended a Civilization Gets Another Look", Henry Fountain discusses how researchers are determining what caused an ancient tsunami that hit Santorini during the 17th century. After doing some research they conquered that the tsunami was a result to the caldera collaspe of the volcanic city, Aegean. Sometime later new data aroused showing how the collaspe was cut off from the ocean, and was also isolated, leaving no water inside. It was then later proved that their theory was correct.
I believe this to be some important environmental information because it shows how much climate can cause so much destruction. This article was basically discussing how an eruption of a volcano near an ancient european city, made the city collaspe and cause a tsunami a little after it's own events. How crazy is that? This is why i believe this to be some really important environmental information. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/10/science/santorini-akrotiri-tsunami.html?rref=collection%2Ftimestopic%2FVolcanoes&action=click&contentCollection=science®ion=stream&module=stream_unit&version=latest&contentPlacement=1&pgtype=collection&_r=0
