In the article, "Alaskans’ Cost of Staying Warm: A Thick Coat of Dirty Air", Kirk Johnson explains how Alaska had terrible air pollution during winter due to people trying to stay warm by the fireplace in their homes. It was recording to have a high concentration of pollution in the area. Some residents even resulted to finding higher grounds. The E.P.A resulted in putting a Clean Air act about which resulted in having to take away peoples' wooden stoves. People have been fighting against them as we speak.
I believe this to be a serious environmental problem because air pollution can have negative side affects on humans and the environment around us. After reading this article, i was kind of disappointed to know that people were being greedy, and fighting the E.P.A. because they are trying to help the community. Air pollution is never a good thing, it can make humans have a hard time breathing, and can even cause higher temperatures. This is why i believe this to be a serious problem. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/25/us/alaskans-cost-of-staying-warm-a-thick-coat-of-dirty-air.html?_r=0
